Meet The Connected Distribution Team
We're a small dedicated team that runs the business very much in a 'hands-on' manner. The directors don't sit in ivory towers, but rather live and breathe every element of the company. They're passionate about the business, hi-fi and most importantly music and have many years' experience between them which they are ready and willing to impart onto you to help you get the very best home entertainment system.
Mike's an experienced audio guy with over 25 years’ experience in the Hi-Fi, Home Cinema and Smart Home industries, from running a retail store to being the Director of a specialist importer and distributor (us!), Mike's enthusiasm for this market has never weakened.
Self-confessed audio geek with a particular interest in good old LPs, a collector of records, CDs and indeed knowledge about all the various brands within the industries: their merits and their pitfalls.
Mike's first passion has always been music and throughout the many incarnations of his own hi-fi system the goal has always been to get more of the music that he loves! This has extended into home cinema systems and whole house audio.
Phil started his career over 25 years ago as product designer for one of the oldest names in British hi-fi, Richard Allan Audio. He was responsible for many award-winning hi-fi loudspeakers and the development of THX approved speakers for multiplex cinemas. He was subsequently marketing manager with KEF before setting up a marketing consultancy. He currently sits on the board of The Clarity Alliance, the hi-fi industry trade association, as well as holding the position of marketing director for Connected Distribution.
Phil is a self-confessed music-phile, whose tastes range from modern jazz, through classical and onto prog rock and heavy metal, via everything in between. When not listening to music he can be found banging the drums.
Duncan handles the day to day operations. He started work in the construction industry after leaving school in the early 1990s. In a desire to move on, he left the industry and enrolled in University and attained a 1st class honours degree in Sociology. During his final year at university, in 2002, he started to work with the company, carrying out freelance custom installation work.
Duncan's family past was the key to this career jump, as he had always been around audio from his childhood. His father (Richard Hay) had been in the audio industry for many long years (designing and manufacturing amplifiers with Nytech Audio and Ion Systems most prominently), and as Duncan had a strong affiliation and appreciation of music and audio - it seemed like the natural step.
The bridge between work and personal life can be seen, as he is both a passionately keen guitar and banjo player and a music lover with eclectic musical tastes spanning classical, folk, heavy rock and anything a little under radar!
